Barely reported in this morning's Austin American Statesman in the National News Roundup:
State Attorney Bernie McCabe said there was no evidence that Terri Schiavo's collapse 15 years ago involved criminal activity and Governor Jeb Bush declared an end to the state's inquiry. After Schiavo's autopsy last month, Bush asked McCabe to look into what put Schiavo into a persistent vegetative state, citing an alleged gap between when her husband, Michael, found her and when he called 911.
After all the sturm and drang (and gallons of ink and miles of videotape) less than half a column inch conceding there's no more political capital to be made from that poor woman's living death.
At least until and unless Michael Schiavo justifiably avails himself of the court system to go after those who made his life even more of a living hell than watching his wife dwindle away to a shell was already. That'll call the crazees out again in force.
Rest in peace, Mrs. Schiavo, and may your wounded family finally be healed if never whole again.
