A Progressive Warrior Queen-Isn't That an Oxymoron?


In case you don't know the story of Boadicea (Boudicca), in a nutshell it goes like this.

Boadicea's tribe, the Iceni, lived peacefully as a client tribe under Roman rule. After her husband's death corrupt Roman officials reneged on the agreement that left the Iceni in peace. When Boadicea, still the leader of her tribe, went to protest this, she was flogged and her daughters were raped before her eyes.

She returned to her tribe and raised a rebellion against the Romans that was short lived, brutal, and ended in her death.

Understand, I'm not looking to raze Colchester, or leave piles of bodies behind me. However, the Radical Right Religionists and the Corporate sponsors of the Chattel Society have declared war on us who are "others".

AWOL Dem Senators from the Foreign Relations Committee, hope y'all enjoy your long weekend

So, Karen Hughes was up for confirmation for her new post on Capitol Hill, and NOT ONE SINGLE DEMOCRATIC MEMBER OF THE USSFRC could be arsed to show up and ask questions? The crack investigative team here at We Are the Resistance did some research into what was so pressing on the Senatorial Calendars.
The Senator from MBNA Bank of America had to get his business cards updated. Maryland's esteemed Senator needed to beat rush hour traffic. The Silver Maned Senator from Connecticut missed his Amtrak connection. The Once and Future Presidential Candidate from Massachusetts needed to pose for new pictures for his website. The Senator from the land of Dells and Cheeseheads heard they decided to go with a veggie plate instead of the traditional cheese platter, and felt honor bound to boycott the hearings. The Senator from Hollywood had a development meeting with Miramax that ran late. (You know how hard it is to get out of range when Harvey builds up a head of steam...) The Senator from Jebby Land had to head down to Florida to be sure his opponent will be Katherine Harris. (WAtR can certainly understand this one. Senator Nelson's seat was considered very vulnerable until Rep Harris became the frontrunner.) The Senator from the Frosh Class figured it wasn't a good idea to stick out from the crowd.
In all seriousness, while the Bushies are certainly flooding the zone, the Democrats really need to step up RIGHT now and bring their A game every single day. Don't be afraid to remind them of that.
